Filling in your Scorecard and Handicap
As soon as your application is approved, you will be allocated a four digit Membership I.D. (.i.e. 1234)
Trentham Camp Golf Club’s Home Club I.D. is 430.
Space is allocated for both these numbers to be filled in on your score card.
Whenever you play, whether at Trentham or any other golf course, you should fill in these numbers on the relevant score card. (i.e. 430 and 1234). After your game, leave your card in the appropriate place at the golf club where you played the game.
You will need to submit 5 completed score cards before being allocated a handicap. Meanwhile, simply state “New player” on your card.
When you are allocated a handicap, it will be termed as your Handicap Index. (i.e. 33.4 - note the decimal point!).
When you play on any course, you should look to see what the Course Handicap will be. Your handicap will vary, according to the course’s degree of difficulty. For Instance, at Trentham your Course handicap might be 33, whereas at the Boulcott Club it might be 31.
Before the game starts, the important pieces of information to appear on your score card should be:
Be Forewarned! Initially, while playing on our course there is a good chance that you might be approached by a fellow golfer and asked if you are a member. Please do not take offence! Members are encouraged to question new faces as a precaution against green fee dodgers. Please carry either your receipt or this letter until you receive your plastic membership card, this can help to avoid embarrassment all round.
After the game, add up and fill in your own and your partner’s scores.
Write your Adjusted Gross score. (You might need help with this initially).
Both you and your playing partner (Marker) should check and sign your own, and each other’s score cards, otherwise the card is invalid.
An important part of the game is to finish the day at the 19th hole!!
